BEACH BASICS

I'm fresh off the Island of Sanibel after celebrating my Birthday with sun, sand, & the Goslee Clan (my family, all 15 of us to be exact!) and I'm full of great tips on how to survive the beach! Along with sunnies, floppy hat, & a good read, here's a peek inside this Healthy Skin Enthusiast's beach bag:

Dermalogica's Total Eye Care SPF 15
 ($43)

Optical light diffusers help diminish dark circles and a chemical-free sunscreen helps to shield against further damage. Yes please!

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer SPF 70 with Helioplex

I know, I know, anything over SPF 30 doesn't add that much more protection, but it makes me feel better. Oh well, must be a mental thing. Either way this guy is light weight, blends in easily, and never clogs my pores. The slim packaging makes for easy travel which is an added bonus.

Coppertone Sport Ultra Sweat Proof SPF 50

Even if your sunscreen claims to be sweat proof, waterproof, chlorine proof, baby proof, etc. it only works as well as your re-application. That's right folks, guarding your skin from the sun's harmful rays is not a one and done situation. I recommend applying a nice even layer from head to toe before donning your beach wear. Let it soak in at least 20 minutes before cooling off with a nice dip, and set an alert on your phone or watch as a reminder to re-apply at least every hour. (Re-applying after swimming is a given.)

Maybelline Baby Lips SPF 20 in Pink Punch

For a splash of color & much needed solar defense for your pout, pack a punch with this moisturizing lip balm. For under 5 bucks, you won't be too heart broken if you drop it in the sand.

Dermalogica After Sun Repair ($32)

LOVE! If you travel with a fair complected hubs that has a deep seeded aversion to sunscreen (I do), then you will want this cooling gel by the GALLON. Six years of my professional advice (read: nagging) has done little to help.

Wishing you lots of fun & safety in the sun on your upcoming adventures. Stay tuned for Beach Basics: Makeup coming up next.
There are a few dog days left this summer, what will you do with yours?

Cheers to Your Skin Health,

Kristin
